Bubur Nature Treats & Blanquette

Remember few entries ago, I commented on Maggi Bubur Nature Treats? I mentioned that there was no taste of the herbs and chicken? hihihi
Well, I cooked another sachet last week, and guess what? Deep in the box, I found the small sachet which contains the dried herbs and chicken bits!!
This is what it looks like. But then.. the taste is blleegghh.. Now the herbs taste is so strong..

Anyway... This is the picture of Blanquette de veau. One of the french cuisine that I've mastered with approval from my hubby... hehehe

Bubur Cha Cha

Cold weather.. Good time to eat one of the warm Malaysian desserts.
I made bubur cha cha. My version contains sweet potatoes, corn, and banana.
I tried to make the chewy thing. But I only managed to get tapioca grains and not the flour. I attempted anyway to make the chewy thing. It worked but not that perfect... Next time then.. Here is the photo..

Tarte / Pie

This weekend, I'm trying Tarte au Quetsche.
Quetches is a from the prune family. The season for this fruit is in October and it's available in France in region Lorraine (where I live) and also Alsace.
According to Wikipedia, it's also available in Germany, Austra and Switzerland.

Here is a nice little recipe that I used for the base of mirabelle tart last time. I find it just enough for my tart Pyrex (I think about 20cm diameter.. )

Pâte brisée :
250 g de farine
125 g de beurre
1 pincée de sel
1 jaune d'œuf
eau

This is the tarte au mirabelles that I made last weekend.

Instants Fondants & Choc Chip Cookies

Last week, I bought these 2 cookies to work. They were a big success! I bought only half of the batch each coz I'm not sure if people will like them. It's kinda ashame if at the end of the day the cookies are left untouch.
French people is known for picky when it comes to food and desserts. But at least I can count on the R&D guys who basically can wallop anything. hehehe
No pics tho coz I'm kinda lazy to upload. But I still have em at home. So will see if this weekend I have the courage to put the pics hehehe..
The Admin ladies asked me for the recipes. I let them borrow 2 of my recipe books.
This weekend I might try the meringue cornflakes recipe. I've always want to make meringue. Perhaps I will make semperit also coz Sara is coming next week.

Bubur Treats

wah!! many moons I didn't update this site!
I've been cooking but just don't have time and energy to take and upload photos.
Yes, that was an excuse hehe
But I am still alive and kicking and eating.
Ate too much I must say! huhuhu
Anyway, we came back from Malaysia with 2 suitcases full of Malaysian goodies!

Here is the latest item I found in one of hypermarkets in KL.
It's MAGGI's Natures Treats. It is instant rice porridge with some herba added to it.
For example this one is Chicken with Ginger flavor and Pegaga.
Pegaga is from herbs family and Malays eat it like salad. I dunno what pegaga is rich in but it suppose to be good for your blood circulation.

At the same day, I felt like eating tofu. It is hard to get good tofu here in Nancy. The close that you can get at the chinese store is the hard tofu (get it? hard to get tofu and I managed to get hard tofu.. ok nevermind)
So I decided to add tofu to my rice porridge.

The result:
Hmm... not much of a taste. I could not taste the chicken, nor the ginger nor the pegaga. I thought that perhaps it will have kind of strong herbal taste.
No chicken bits or it is too small that it is like there is none at all.
I ended up sprinkle it with serunding daging Agromas.
